What we collect

When you use the take-action form, we collect the information you enter:

• Your name and email address
• Whether you are a cardroom employee, a city worker, or an elected official
• The cardroom or city you work for or serve, and your job title or office
• Your street address, city, and ZIP code

How we use it

Your address is used to identify the State Senator and Assembly Member who represent you. We do this by looking up the coordinates of your address through public geocoding services operated by the U.S. Census Bureau and OpenStreetMap, then matching those coordinates against published California legislative district boundaries.

If you tell us which cardroom you work at, we also identify the Senator and Assembly Member who represent that cardroom's location, so that they hear from you as well. We do this from a list of cardroom addresses we maintain; your workplace is not geocoded when you submit.

Your message, along with your name, address, and email, is then submitted to those offices, and to legislative leadership, through the California Legislature's public constituent contact system at lcmspubcontact.lc.ca.gov. This is the same public system used when a constituent writes to their legislator directly, and the information you provide is required by that system for the offices to verify you are a constituent.

What we keep

We keep a record of your submission, including the message that was sent on your behalf, so the campaign can report on participation and so we can re-send a message if a legislative office's system was unavailable at the time. Access to these records is limited to authorized California Gaming Association staff and is logged.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
• We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies on this site.

Your choices

You may ask us to delete your information at any time by contacting us. Note that once a message has been submitted to a legislative office, that office holds its own copy under the Legislature's records practices, which we do not control.
